Review and #Giveaway of Virtual World Game “Surviving Time Island” #TimeIsland

I know I know too much TV and computers is not good for kids. But when the thermometer reads 102  in the shade, well I think exceptions can be made. Being cooped up inside had been driving us a little batty. That is probably why I practically kissed the postman when he delivered the Surviving Time Island Fun Pack to my house the other day.

The kids could not open it up quick enough. Inside were all sorts of goodies such as bracelets, tattoos and stickers to share with friends. It even had a pair of glasses and a cute bandana as well as a tote to carry it all in.  The fun extras got the kids in the mood. In fact Jay called a friend to come over and try it out with us. Gracie got busy applying the tattoos!

Time Island is a safe virtual game world for kids. The creators of Time Island seek to promote values such as friendship, loyalty, curiosity, independence and care for the environment. It is filled with action packed games, adventures and challenges  and is geared to children ages 6 to 11.  Setting up the game was relatively easy. The kids got to pick which castaway character they wanted to be, to name them and even choose their clothes. I got to choose whether or not they would be allowed to chat with others online. I loved this parent control option.

I found the came a little confusing but the kids seemed to know exactly what to do. My son said it was like Club Penguin but on a castaway island. They enjoyed just exploring the different areas and playing the games as they found them like making sludge bombs so you have something to throw at the green creatures that inhabit the island — the Goggs or catching fire flies so you have light for your hut. My favorite was the recycle game which was a lot like BeJewel put in this one you had to match cans, banana peels or paper bags for example.

Time Island is still in the Beta phase so things downloaded a little slowly. The good part about it being so new is that the creators are still adding all sorts of fun things to it. My kids thought it was pretty cool to be playing something so new. And guess what your kids can get in on the ground floor of this brand-new and evolving adventure game for kids too!

  1. I would bring bug spray and a never ending supply of wetwipes. I don’t do the outdoorsy thing very well… dont like to get dirty and dont like bugs. LOL!

  2. I would bring two books, one called How to Survive on a Desert Island and the other Persuasion by Jane Austen (it’s a book I enjoy reading over and over and over again)

  3. Already like you on FB, added your RSS feed and added your twitter feed. thank you for the consideration!

  4. I’d bring what everyone else would bring…… satellite radio and my disco outfit for dancing!
